Lowther Castle, Cumbria

The ancestral home of the Lonsdale family, Lowther castle has been rotting into the Cumbrian landscape for 70 years. My late father-in-law was stationed here for a while during the Second World War. He took part in tests of a secret weapon that was being developed for use by the Tank Regiment. For the last few years a charitable trust has been restoring the castle, and saving it for future generations to enjoy.
